The year 2025 marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam, as well as the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. Produced by the Nanning Municipal Publicity Department, China Global Television Network (CGTN), and Nanning International Communication Center, with co-production by the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Radio and Television Administration and Van Phuong International Business Services Co., Ltd. (Vietnam), The Evergreen Tree of Friendship showcases the enduring bond between China and Vietnam. The Vietnamese version consists of five episodes, each eight minutes long. The documentary highlights the touching stories of a new generation of young people following in their predecessors’ footsteps to nurture and sustain the tree of friendship, powerfully testifying to the enduring vitality of the two nations’ "comradeship and brotherhood" in a new historical phase.

Adopting a "small stories, grand themes" narrative approach, the film captures numerous poignant moments—such as a rising Vietnamese dance star’s journey of study in China, the inspiring entrepreneurial partnership of transnational best friends, a Chinese woman experiencing Vietnam’s traditional Mid-Autumn Festival, and the emotional reunion of a Chinese-Vietnamese chess master and his apprentice.
